Outside Business Advisor

Whether you are a solo entrepreneur, a partner in an entrepreneurial partnership, or a sole proprietor, your business will benefit from having a management team that meets regularly, and from the participation of an outside management team member.

A management team can be created for any small business, regardless of the company’s legal structure. The management team is not a formal part of the company’s corporate structure. It does not replace the actual board of directors or officers of a small corporation or the managers of a limited liability company. Instead, the management team consists of the top leaders of the organization meeting regularly to share plans and discuss issues.

Management Teams engage in Strategy Planning to create a shared vision company. You find the answers amongst yourselves, and the melding of your minds and the common direction for the team are the essential outcomes.

Management Teams then take the strategic plan and execute it through operational excellence. Meeting regularly allows all team members to get feedback and ensure everyone is executing in accordance with the plan.

What’s it like to work with me?

I serve as an outside, independent member of your management team. Some teams meet weekly, some meet monthly. I attend the meeting, ask questions, and provide advice and insight. I help to build the team and keep the strategic plan in mind. I emphasize decision quality and bring my experience to bear on the company’s challenges and opportunities. I also generally do a once-per-month meeting with the finance team to review the business's financial condition.

I can also take on other projects or responsibilities at an additional charge. For example, I sometimes serve on a client’s Information Security Management Committee, and have experience with both SOC 2 Type 1 and 2 and ISO 27001 Audits.
